My TiVo Resolution

They say the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. I admit it .. I have a problem. I am a TiVo-holic. I own three of them. The one in my son's room is linked to the one in the living room. I love the TiVo Suggestions. It records things I never would have thought of recording myself.

But with this comes a problem. I am also a DVD Addict. I can't stop buying them. I don't even open them or watch them. It seems I simply collect them. That damned $5.00 bargain bin at WalMart is my downfall. I keep finding great, older movies that I want to add to my collection.

So what's my dilema??? I am trying to break the habit of watching movies that my TiVo Suggestions recorded but I already OWN on DVD. It makes no sense to watch them on TiVo if I have them on DVD. The TiVo recorded them from regular TV. This means they're censored, cut, not complete and have commercials. Why not just get out of the fargin' chair, find the friggin' DVD and pop it in?????? Sure .. the convenience of just pressing the button on the remote and watching the movie .. yeah .. that's nice. But seriously ... it's got to stop.

So my TiVo Resolution is to NOT watch a movie on TiVo if I already own the DVD. And I'm doing a lot better with this. It's a struggle, but I'm making progress. Cold Turkey is not an option. It requires a gradual weaning. The best way, I have found, is to begin watching the movie on TiVo .. just to get you re-interested. A little taste, if you will. THEN, after you're about 10 minutes into it ... STOP! Go get the DVD and pop it in. Go to the Scene Selection Screen and find the place you've left off .. and continue from there. The feeling of satisfaction you get is almost euphoric!

My name is Wink and I'm a TiVo-holic and DVD Addict. Thank you for your support.
